That’s SoCal: Anaheim Event Venues

Last week, we recommended some of our favorite San Diego event venues. This week we’re zeroing in on Anaheim, a frequent destination for corporate travelers from around the world. Undoubtedly, luxury hotels, iconic theme parks, trendy restaurants, and massive stadiums factor into Anaheim’s popularity. While there’s no shortage of Anaheim event venues to choose from, we’ve highlighted some of our recent favs below.

Anaheim Packing District

First let’s explore Anaheim Packing District, the newly renovated downtown gathering place. Highlights include The Packing House, which harbors Cooks Chapel (a community kitchen and event space), and The Backyard outdoor venue. Here, visitors can sample 20+ artisan eateries, wine-taste in a 1920’s railroad boxcar appropriately named The BXCR, or experience out of this world mixology at The Blind Rabbit. In short, these Anaheim event venues truly pack a punch!

Craft Beer Scene

Like its San Diegan neighbors to the south, Anaheim is “hopping” back on board the craft beer scene. Actually, brewing beer is in Anaheim’s roots (German colonials brewed here as early as 1870). Now, the resurrected Anaheim Brewery, Backstreet Brewery, and Bottle Logic Brewing are just some of the local breweries we recommend. These casual Anaheim event venues provide the perfect respite for groups looking to take a break after a long day of meetings.

Sports Stadiums

Now a little something for the Sports fans! Here in Orange County, locals cheer for their MLB Angels and NHL Ducks. And where there are major sports teams, there are major stadium venues. Hence, a diverse selection of function space at Angel Stadium and Honda Center. For example, meeting planners can opt for a catered game-day experience for small VIP groups. Or, for large convention groups, we suggest a full venue buyout with private tours and big name entertainment.

Event Decor Spotlight: 3 Orange County Venues and How to Dress Them Up

Let’s talk Orange County event decor, shall we? From Anaheim to Dana Point, Orange County features a wonderful selection of event venues for convention and corporate groups. At The Event Team DMC, we know a thing or two about these spaces, especially when it comes to dressing them up in event decor. Here’s a look at three popular Orange County corporate event venues paired with some of our favorite decor theme recommendations.

1. Venue: Mission San Juan Capistrano / Decor: Rustic California

Conveniently located close to the freeway and minutes from the airport, the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano is an idyllic setting of lush gardens, koi-filled fountains, museum rooms, original adobe buildings, and the famous Great Stone Church. Dress it up with our rustic California Chic decor concept. Featuring warm colors and wooden furniture, this decor style gives the museum a modern feel without completely ignoring the venues’s historical roots.

2. Venue: Endless Dreams Yacht / Decor: Nautical

Since her launch in 2002, Endless Dreams has represented the very pinnacle of charter yacht design: spacious elegance and sophistication coupled with a fine attention to detail. The 140-foot Newport Beach yacht accommodates up to 450 guests and boasts modern wood, granite and stainless steel accents inside, plus features such as plasma televisions and a playful outdoor balcony fit for stargazing. Dress it up with our nautical decor theme, which incorporates simple colors, clean lines, and seafaring accents.

3. Venue: Lyon Air Museum / Decor: Vintage Military

This Santa Ana venue features a 30,000 square foot hangar that houses a collection of historic aircraft and classic vehicles from World War II era. A unique setting for Orange County corporate events, the stunning backdrop of John Wayne Airport’s runway is quite a treat for guests as they dine, dance, and socialize among the wings of vintage aircraft. Dress it up with our popular Vintage Military theme. This colorful decor concept highlights the venue’s tribute to World World II era history with industrial furniture, patriotic color scheme, and memorable vintage posters.

6 Last Minute Ideas for your Office Holiday Party

If you’re feeling a little Ho Ho Hum about this year’s office holiday party, don’t fret! The Event Team is here with 6 last minute ideas to help make your event merry and bright:

1. Santa’s Workshop: Cookie-Decorating and Wreath-Making Stations

Whether or not their DIY game is on point, guests always appreciate interactive stations at work parties because they offer an opportunity to do something other than make awkward conversation about their holiday travel plans. Station options include cookie-decorating, wreath-assembly, ornament design, and more!

2. Reindeer Games: Merry Minute to Win It and Caroling Karaoke

If your team is a more competitive bunch, we suggest hosting a good old fashioned holiday game night. Divide guests into teams and battle against the clock in a series of holiday-themed challenges in our Merry Minute to Win It game. After everyone has enough egg nog (aka liquid courage) break out the karaoke machine for our Caroling Karaoke competition.

6. That’s a Wrap: Volunteering and Holiday Bonding Activities

If a holiday party didn’t quite make it on your 2016 wishlist, there are still ways to sprinkle a little joy throughout your company. Take a day out of the office and volunteer your time toward a local community program. Gift-wrapping donated toys for youth outreach organizations or assembling  military care packages are perfect options for this time of year. The Event Team can also arrange a casual bonding activity for your team, such as a local brewery tour or a friendly game of footgolf (our team just did this last week and had a blast!).

That’s SoCal – Underground Edition

While Southern California is known for major attractions like SeaWorld, Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland, and more, we thought it might be cool to showcase some local venue and activity options that you may not read about in the typical meeting planner and travel guides. We asked Taryn and JC to scout out some of SoCal’s hidden gems and underground offerings. Check out their findings below:

Get the LED Out – 4 Ways to Light Up your Next Corporate Event

While not necessarily a new trend, glow in the dark decor and event enhancements are currently making a strong showing in the corporate events industry. At The Event Team destination management company, we’re constantly updating our menu of LED offerings. Glowing entertainment enhancements work particularly well in warm and breezy Southern California, where clients often opt for  poolside cocktail receptions, sunset dinners on hotel lawns, or game nights on the beach. LED games and furniture help ensure that the fun won’t stop just because the sun goes down. Need some inspiration for your next corporate event? Allow The Event Team to LED the way!

1. Event Decor and Furnishings

From modern, branded LED pillars to classy and clean tufted uplit bars, to retro glowing bubble chairs, there are furnishings for every color and/or theme imaginable.

2. Interactive Glow Games

With oversized beach and lawn games gaining popularity in the corporate events industry, it makes sense to offer night vision versions to keep the party going! The Event Team offers an impressive array of fun and popular LED games including casino tables, volleyball, corn hole toss, disc golf, bocce ball, shuffle board, giant foosball, air hockey, and more! Depending on your venue, you can bring in many of these games to host a fun and casual game night or “Glo-lympics,” or you can feature one or two glow games to enhance your theme. We suggest the giant Light Bright for an “80’s” theme, or the Star Wars Ping Pong table for a “future” or “sci-fi” theme party.

3. Entertainers

For added fun and creativity, check out The Event Team’s roster of glow in the dark artists, musicians, and roaming characters. Choose from “glow girls” for photo opportunities, sphere performers, silent disco DJs, neon jugglers, LED stilt-walkers, and live black light painters, to name a few.

4. Take Away Items

Commemorate your corporate event with a bright and interactive photo booth station. Choose from traditional printed photo strips, fun flip books, slow motion videos, or digital GIFs where guests can actually paint with light then immediately share or snap their creations on social media. The future is here, friends, and it glows in the dark.
