The Event Team’s Full Time Employee of the Quarter award will be shared this quarter by San Diego Sales Manager Rachel Horgan and Los Angeles Operations Manager Dan Bolen. While both Horgan and Bolen are just shy of their two-year anniversary with the company, each has contributed significantly to The Event Team by demonstrating great teamwork, attitude, and work ethic.
Dan was essentially thrown into the line of fire as The Event Team started to grow the Los Angeles office at his time of hire. Since then, he has played a crucial role in the smooth operation of our LA programs; his ability to stay on top of event logistics while developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, staff and clients is impressive. Dan has also been a huge team player as we transitioned over to a new GM and sales team in the region.
“Working operations for The Event Team allows me to work with such a wide variety of clients and vendors, all of which bring a unique perspective to hospitality,” said Dan. ” I love the challenge each week of logistically solving every new client’s challenges so that they experience the most LA has to offer.”
Rachel also experienced trial-by-fire growth in the company when Director of Sales Romy Linde took maternity leave in 2013, leaving her to manage all pending accounts. Rachel exceeded every imaginable expectation and continues to do so today, often taking on projects and tasks outside her “normal” job description for the betterment of the company. Her leadership background and commitment to effective communication have earned Rachel much respect amongst her colleagues at The Event Team and within the industry.
“Even though this quarter I had a lot more responsibility and it was stressful and my wine intake increased, the reward of producing successful events with happy clients was well worth it,” said Rachel. “I am grateful to truly enjoy my work each day alongside colleagues I’m lucky enough to also call friends. When I realized there was an industry that encouraged socializing, friendly competition, and party planning…I couldn’t resist the hospitality world! I’ve got ‘the bug’ as the GM of the first hotel I worked at would say.”
We couldn’t be prouder of this quarter’s award recipients, and we look forward to continued success from both Dan and Rachel in the coming years.
