Thanksgiving 2014: The Event Team Gratitude Journal

We thought we’d take a little moment this Thanksgiving week to express some of the things we’re most thankful for this year. Enjoy, and feel free to contribute your entry to our gratitude journal in the comments below!

Matt Robbins, President:
Professional – “I am so thankful for everyone on the Team who kicked it in gear when times were tough and we were short-staffed. Thank you for finishing out the year strong and setting the table for a great 2015. I am also thankful for the new LA team. I am amazed how quickly they have come together to become a cohesive unit. Special thanks to their leader Geraldine who is the perfect person to lead this crew. It is so nice to have someone there who is cool and calm no matter what the situation.”

Personal- “I am so thankful for everyone who helped me get though my medical journey but mostly to my wife Susan who was with me every step of the way. I am incredibly lucky to have her in my life and I appreciate every day we are together and take nothing for granted. We have a great life!”

mattsusanPaige Weeber, VP of Operations:
Professional – “I am thankful to work in an environment where when things get tough – EVERYONE pitches in to help out, whether it is part of their job or not. I am also very thankful to the Cleaning Fairies that swoop in and keep our common space clean when we forget to tidy up after ourselves.”

Personal – “I am very thankful to my “village” that helps me out on the home front and allows me to perform my job as best I can.  Juggling family and work is a hard balance, but with my support team, I can do it. I’m also thankful to have a husband that makes me laugh every day and my daughter who is full of unconditional love.”

Marcie Booth, Operations Manager:
Professional – “I am so thankful that I have been working in the event planning industry for the last 8 years and still love every minute of it. I’m even more thankful that I am a part of The Event Team and get to work with some awesome people who share the same passion for events as I do.”

Personal – “I am so thankful for so many things in my life, but being able to move back to beautiful Los Angeles after living out of state for a year is the thing I’m most thankful for this year! I couldn’t have made the move without the support and love from my family and friends who I am always thankful for.”

Lindsay White, Director of Marketing
Professional – “I’m so thankful for all my colleagues and how everyone brings very unique skills and talents to the table. Also, I appreciate everyone’s great sense of humor. It’s wonderful to work somewhere where Kristen Wiig and Someecards are liberally quoted.”

Personal –  “I’m very thankful for so many opportunities to travel this year via my little songwriting-career-that-could. In 2014, I got to meet new people and sing original music in CA, OR, WA, NY, DE, MD, D.C., PA and TX! I’m also thankful for my doll face, my teammate, my Audrie.”

Professional – “Thankful for the opportunities given, and the doors that have opened. Getting an email from Matt offering me the position was the best thing to wake up to one fateful August morning.”

Personal – “Thankful for the belief in me by others and to get to do what I love. Grateful for my amazing friends who are my family.”

Geraldine Caedo, General Manager:
Professional – “I am truly grateful for the team that has evolved here in Los Angeles. I couldn’t have asked for a more synergistic effect from a more dynamic and beautiful team. I appreciate spontaneous karaoke, self-chatter, and a borderline unhealthy amount of cuckoo. I am also grateful for the love and support from our SD family.”

Personal – “I am thankful for my family, both related by blood and related by shared experiences, near and far, old and new. I am thankful that life continues to provide. I am thankful for Otis’s snorts, snores, and wrinkly rolls.”

Bill Yahres, VP of Sales & Marketing:
Professional – “I’ve been with The Event Team over 21 years now, and I’ve enjoyed being connected to such a dynamic industry. Watching our company evolve over the years has been exciting, and I am truly grateful for all the friends I’ve made along the way through clients, vendor partners, and my special Event Team family!

Personal – “I’m very thankful for my family and all the love and joy they bring; there is nothing more important in my life. I’m also thankful for my health, and remind myself as often as possible how lucky I truly am. Finally, it’s great to live in the center of the universe! Thanks San Diego for all your fun memories these past 35 years, and for the happy ones ahead!”

LBJRachel Horgan, Sales Manager:
Professional – “I’m thankful to be trusted with so much responsibility at The Event Team because my company believes in me. I appreciate that my day-to-day involves planning sailing trips and choosing centerpieces. I’m grateful that I work in an environment where I can be myself and my co-workers never fail to make me laugh each and every day.”

Personal – “I’m thankful I’m able to live on my own so I can sing Celine Dion any time I want without damaging others’ ear drums and/or binge watch Netflix for an entire day without anyone knowing my level of laziness. Speaking of, I’m also thankful for Shonda Rhimes, karaoke bars, and Spotify.”
