Welcome to 2016, friends! We all made it through the holidays and are now reunited, refreshed, and ready to tackle a new year. January is such an exciting time at The Event Team destination management company. We can’t to see what crazy new adventures and challenges will pop up along the way, but we at least have a clear vision of where we want to go and how we want to get there. Our goals are set, and projects are laid out before us like the map of a partially planned road trip.
One such project is our annual give back program. You may recall that our 2015 CSR efforts resulted in 270 children’s books donated to Boys and Girls Club chapters in Los Angeles and San Diego. This year, The Event Team is rolling out our 2016 Can-Do Give Back Project, a canned food drive that will support our local food banks.
Of San Diego County’s 3.1 million residents, 475,773 people live in poverty – that’s 15.2% of the population of San Diego County. Of this number, 138,334 are children. These individuals face “food insecurity” which means that little or no food is available at home, and often they will not know how they will get their next meal. In Los Angeles, one in six residents of Los Angeles County faces food insecurity (16.6%)
The Event Team has committed to donating two non-perishable food items for every Southern California corporate event we operate in 2016. With over 30 programs on the books so far and many proposals out to bid this is already shaping up to be a successful project!
