We are excited to announce the hiring of our new Sales & Marketing Intern, Bryan Patrick. Bryan is a Marketing and Finance major currently enrolled at University of San Diego. Following the guidelines of our internship program, he will commit to 10+ hours a week in the office, assisting with various sales and marketing projects that include researching venues, creating write-ups and blog content, attending meetings, and more. He will also be invited to attend various industry events throughout the duration of his internship, which will allow him greater networking opportunities.
Internship director Rachel Horgan said, “After volunteering as an advisor for a class through the Hospitality & Tourism Management program at SDSU, I was able to see how much passion these students had for the industry, but also, how much they still had to learn with regards to real world application. This was why I was so excited to re-start our internship program, and even more excited when we found Bryan. Bryan came highly recommended from his advisors at USD and now we know why. He is professional, personable, and hard working. It’s only been a few weeks and he has already helped us tremendously. It takes a certain personality to be able to handle the weirdos in this office, but he’s laughing at our dumb jokes, so we think we’ll keep him around. I am looking forward to seeing him grow with The Event Team and gain some hands on experience.”
We asked Bryan what caught his eye about The Event Team’s internship program. He said, “Rachel is a USD alum, and she reached out to my advisor at school. I work on the programming board at USD to plan concerts on campus, so I got interested in event planning through that., and TET sounded like a fun opportunity. I figured it would be a good chance to learn more about San Diego and get some event planning experience outside of school.”
Since Bryan is joining a team full of “super people,” we asked him what his ideal superpower would be, to which he replied: “I know everyone says this, but being able to fly would be the coolest.”
As for long-term career goals, Bryan hopes “to get a job in marketing, and hopefully that leads to a career that allows me to be creative and active.” We think he is off to a great start with this internship! Welcome to the team, Bryan!
