The Event Team Interns – Where Are They Now?

Our latest former-intern follow up centers on Brian Rudloff, a CSU Northridge and USC graduate who interned with The Event Team in 2012. During his time with the company, Brian worked with Director of Marketing Lindsay White; tasks included compiling research, inputting data, creating blog content as well as marketing videos. “Brian was a great intern and we were very lucky to have him,” said Lindsay. “His film background and strengths in social media marketing and creative writing came in handy for the company. Plus, he is a genuinely great person and a pleasure to work with.”

Brian now resides in Los Angeles, where he works as Digital Marketing Manager for The Edward Thomas Collection. We recently chatted with Brian about his intern days and learned more about his current position:

What did you like about The Event Team’s Internship Program?
Every member of The Event Team is as passionate about building their own team and the personal and professional growth of each individual as they are about producing amazing events for others. I truly enjoyed being a part of this unique environment.  Also, there are some funny folk who work here that made me laugh daily.

Were you able to develop or work on any particular skills?
As my introduction to the professional tourism world, my time at The Event Team was the best crash course in event planning and destination management that I could have had. Writing for marketing communications and marketing strategies were probably the areas that I personally experienced the most growth in during my time as part of the team.

How did your knowledge of the Hospitality industry grow as a result of working with The Event Team?
Most importantly I learned that great people work in the Hospitality industry.

Tell us a little bit about your current position. Are you still involved in the hospitality industry?  I am the Digital Marketing Manager for The Edward Thomas Collection, a luxury hospitality company that runs two hotels (Shutters on the Beach & Hotel Casa del Mar), 2 spas, and 6 restaurants on the beach in Santa Monica. Basically, I update websites, create social content, and spam your inbox with photos of beach sunsets and seafood.

What are you up to these days? Any interests/hobbies outside of work?
Karaoke, boardgames, and planning my own wedding with the knowledge I acquired from The Event Team.
